nadar
History
Nadar, who's real name was Gaspard-Felix Tournachon, was born in 1820 and died in 1910. He was a French photographer, caricaturist, journalist, and balloonist. He got his nickname from his friends. They called him "Tournadar", but that soon changed to simply "Nadar".

Pioneering
Nadar was mostly known for being a pioneer in photography. He took many self portraits of famous people from that era. He was also the first person in the world to take aerial photographs in 1858. He would take photographs while in a hot air balloon and used a special kind of chemical process to develope pictures in the air.

Importance
Nadar was important to the history of photography because he took many famous photos and was the first to think about taking a camera up into the sky to take pictures. This made cameras completely mobile and issued a new generation of photography.
